FM Approvals has been made aware of a counterfeit centrifugal fire pump found in Biñan City in the Laguna province of the Philippines bearing an FM Approvals certification mark.  FM Approvals has neither tested nor certified this product.

 

Product Identity:  The centrifugal fire pump bears the part number 4-384-7 and the manufacturer name Fairbanks Nijhuis/Pentair Water, however, the identity of the manufacturer is unknown. There are no FM Approved products granted under the name Fairbanks Nijhuis/Pentair Water. See Figure 1 that depicts the nameplate from the counterfeit fire pump. The nameplate in new installations should include driver and controller manufacturer and serial number.

 

FM Approval Status:  Not FM Approved.

 

Hazard Involved:  The fire pump described in this product alert has never been tested or certified as FM Approved.  Use of products that falsely claim FM Approval may present a property risk for the user.  This pump may fail to provide the required fire protection water pressure or flow needed to control a fire.
