Gas Detectors - Open Path Detectors
Flammable vapors and gases could cause considerable damage if they should come in contact with an ignition source. Being able to reliably detect the presence of the gas allows the end user the ability to react and prevent an event. Open path gas detectors measure the presence of flammable vapors and gases and warns when the concentrations in air approach the explosive range. Unlike gas detectors that measure the gas concentration at a single point, an open path gas detector measures the gas concentration over a predetermined distance.
FM Approved detectors have specified hazardous location suitability. The material to be detected must be known and the instrument must be calibrated with that particular material. Manufacturer's instructions should be consulted as to the materials and environmental conditions which may affect the functional performance of the instrument.
