Alert Summary

FM Approvals has been made aware of a falsified Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued on FM Approvals’ letterhead. The document (Fig. 1) has been altered to misrepresent several models of Fujian automatic sprinklers as FM Approved. These claims are false.

Hazard Involved

The products described in the Certificate in Fig. 1 below have never been tested or certified as FM Approved. Since there is no evidence these products have ever been tested to the rigorous requirements of FM Approvals, we advise that use of these products present a serious property risk for the user.

Follow Up

Since the initial discovery and investigation by FM Approvals, Fujian Nanan City Guangwei Fire-Fighting Scie-Tech Co., Ltd. has agreed to the following undertakings:

• Acknowledges the intellectual property rights of the Rights Owner including but not limited to the “FM Approvals” and ‘FM Diamond marks;
• Undertakes to immediately stop using “FM Approvals” and FM Diamond marks on all their products, materials, documents, brochures, catalogues or in any other form;
• Undertakes not to otherwise infringe, attempt to infringe, or cause, assist or enable others to use the “FM Approvals” and FM Diamond marks;
• Undertakes to immediately destroy any false FM Approvals reports, any products, materials, documents, brochures, catalogues or any other materials bearing the “FM Approvals” and FM Diamond marks;
• Confirms that, as of March 16, 2012, Fujian Nanan City Guangwei Fire-Fighting Scie-Tech Co., Ltd. does not have any present or existing orders or contracts for the manufacture or sale of, or dealing in, in any way, products bearing the “FM Approvals” and FM Diamond marks and;
• Undertakes not in future to infringe in any way any of the intellectual property rights of the Rights Owner.

These undertakings were accepted by FM Approvals.
